ETESS, das Enterprise Technologies Electronic Submission System
ETESS was developed by Enterprise Technologies. This browser-based system for the entire administration of scientific scripts was developed especially to meet the requirements of scientific publishing houses. It makes the production process more uniform and easier to handle for all parties involved (publishing house, authors, experts, editors etc) and thus helps to optimize workflows. Of course the system can also be used for illustrating processes outside the publishing sector.
The entire process is controlled and documented, from registering and logging-in new members of staff, entering text modules and contents, and release authorisation through different hierarchical levels to page layout and publishing.
A major part of administrative tasks such as the invitation of experts, editing orders, information and reminder functions etc is performed automatically, thus reducing the workload considerably. User guidance is straighforward so that there is no need for specific training of users or authors. Depending on their authorisation status, users can “click into” the respective file and see the current state of a process, or access and work on their “to-do” tasks.

ETESS is not a rigid editing program with clearly defined structures. It is rather a dynamic system whose functions can be adapted very flexibly to your particular requirements to control the workflow. It connects all user groups as one big “working team”: authors, experts, editors-in-chief, editors, administrative staff and others involved in the editing process. For customers wishing to include other roles into the process, ETESS can be easily adapted. Depending on their authorisation status, different functions are available to users, such as: loading, editing and commenting on complete texts and graphics directly in the system, automatic correspondence, releasing scripts, administration of script histories and user data.
ETESS makes the workflow more transparent, and saves a lot of time through automated processes. Easy handling and worldwide browser-based access guarantee high acceptance from all users.
